Periodontal disease or much known as gum disease is an infection of the tissues in the gums. This kind of condition is commonly cause by a poor dental hygiene resulting to a plaque buildup in the gum line. Periodontal disease can lead to a much more serious dental problem such as bleeding gums and tooth loss if not treated right away. Another factor that can contribute to gum disease is smoking. People who are smoking can easily develop gum disease. In fact, people who are under gum disease treatment that are smoking are in a high risk in endangering the success of the treatment. There are many options in treating gum disease depending of the severity of the gum disease, treatment that ranges from professional deep cleaning and medications to surgery. This kind of dental condition is best treated in its early stage to avoid it from aggravating and becomes a much more serious dental health problem.

And when you decide to visit to your dentist because of the pain in your gums, you’ll be surprise to know that you previously have gum disease and that you are having receding gums and there is a possibility of losing your teeth. Warning signs and symptoms of gum disease condition may not be notice easily but there is some slight indication. The bleeding gums, red, swollen, tender gums, receding gums, chronic and persistent bad breath, formation of deep pockets between teeth and gums, teeth tends to pull away from the root and changes in bites of teeth these are some indication that you have gum disease.
